Stephanie
Welcome to my world! My name is Stephanie Campbell, and I’m a surface pattern designer from Herefordshire, UK. I currently work from my home studio in the countryside, happily illustrating prints for fabrics and more. I set up my business Fable & Cedar at the end of 2020, and cherish being able to do what I love every day.
I completed my art and design studies at Hereford College of Arts, Manchester School of Art and Central Saint Martins. I hold a BA (Hons) in Textiles for fashion and interiors, where I specialised in print and embroidery, as well as a PGCE in Art & Design. During my studies I had internships at Jonathan Saunders, Diane Von Furstenberg and Harrods Publishing, which exposed me to the exciting inner workings of creative businesses, and I suppose those experiences stuck with me! I always knew I wanted to set up my own business one day, and I am so thrilled to be able to share my work with you today.
I design all my pieces with traditional artistic processes, such as sketching, painting and lino printing, combined with digital drawing tools. I am inspired by art in all its forms, folklore, memories and poetry, and like to fill my work with unexpected details that you might not notice at first. Textiles was once a visual art form that was used to pass on factual stories and folk tales, where every stitch, stain and dye held memory of the person crafting it. This is what draws me to this medium and I hope to be able to illustrate my own joyful narratives into my fabrics for you to pass on.
I want Fable & Cedar to be a place for you to come and be inspired by exquisite design, follow my artistic development over on the Journal, and to know you are supporting a humble sole trader with every purchase. So grab a cuppa, and have a look around! Steph
